Events have conspired to make next weekend the perfect time for Michael and I to get away from work and Atlanta, so we’re going to Hilton Head and Savannah for a weekend of photography and off-season sight-seeing. Neither of us have been to either place, and we’ll have a fairly long drive together. Pretty exciting.
Do you have favorite places or things to see around Savannah? If so, let us know in the comments. Meanwhile, I’ll use this space as a place to list and link to things we might end up doing.
Hilton Head, SC
No way we’ll pass up a beach walk.
Sea Pines Forest Preserve: https://www.seapines.com/resort_activities/forest-preserve.aspx and http://101thingshiltonhead.com/101-things/lay-of-the-land/4717
There’s a small gate fee for those not staying at the resort, but the boardwalk trails sound lovely.
Baynard Ruins Park: http://101thingshiltonhead.com/101-things/4976 and http://www.exploreseapines.com/historical-sites.asp
Michael especially loves broken down, ruined things.
Mini Golf: http://www.adventurecove.com/miniature-golf/ or http://www.piratesislandgolf.com/hilton-head-island-home
Because why not? Pirate-themed mini golf for $10.75 (dollar off coupon here). There’s also an arcade at Adventure Cove, though…decisions!
Georgia State Railroad Museum: http://www.chsgeorgia.org/Railroad-Museum.html
$10 admission. They’ll have the diesel train running while we’re there (11am, 1pm, and 2pm on Saturday).
Leopold’s Ice Cream: http://www.leopoldsicecream.com
Open at 11am each day.
Squares and Parks: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Squares_of_Savannah,_Georgia and http://www.visitsavannah.com/essential-savannah/squares-parks.aspx
We’ll likely hit a few of these for photographs.
