resurgens (the city you live in)

Our mailing address says Decatur, and we technically live in unincorporated DeKalb County, but we call Atlanta our home.  I’ve written about my love for this place before, but we’re always finding new things to appreciate. Here are a few photos of our recent adventures about town.

into the dark (day 3)

This is my view while I rock and nurse Henry to sleep. I have never loved to sleep in total darkness, and as it turns out, having a baby is a good excuse to have some light. But not too much. I also have sensitive eyes. Pecking this out on my phone is making me squint.

Today I have been bitching about falling back, about standard time and all the darkness that comes with it. The messed up sleep schedule. The dreary days. About an hour ago we settled down for a nap that has turned, it seems, into bedtime for everyone but me. I’m thankful for the warmth that comes from my baby’s little body in my lap, from my husband sleeping beside us. They both laugh in their sleep. I can stand the darkness, hearing that.

i see you (day 2)

Car travel is not exactly a cake walk with H. He’s definitely not a fan, and he’ll let you know all about it. Loudly.

So, today I’m thankful for this sweet game of peekaboo during a nursing break. It was just what we needed. Funny how he knew that.

I’m also thankful that we made it home, safe and sound. Maybe we can stay put for a while.

try a little thankfulness (day 1)

(with apologies to Otis Redding)

Though I have resisted the thankful-until-Thanksgiving posts in the past, I think I will try them this year. Here’s as good a place as any. I think I’ll try to make them quick, for my sake and yours. –Bellee

This weekend we’re in Tennessee with Michael’s family, and today we were privileged to witness the baptism of our niece, Celia. I’m thankful for that, and for her, and for her sweetly inquisitive, slightly bored expression here.
